A specialized dialogue session was held today at Bayt Al-Hikma, in cooperation with Osoul Organization for Economic and Sustainable Development, focusing on foreign investment and its relationship to job creation. The session was moderated by Dr. Falah Thuwaini, Supervisor of the Economic Studies Department, and attended by Dr. Abdul Hussein Al-Anbaki, Advisor to the Prime Minister; Dr. Qahtan Al-Khafaji, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bayt Al-Hikma; and Mr. Khalid Al-Jabri, President of the Osoul Organization.
The session witnessed broad participation from academic, research, and media elites specializing in economic affairs. Discussions addressed the most prominent structural challenges hindering the attraction of foreign investment, foremost among them weak banking infrastructure, shortcomings in macroeconomic policies, and imbalances in the distribution of economic activities.
Participants emphasized the importance of diversifying the national economy, empowering productive and service sectors, and directly linking investment to job creation. The experience of the city of Mosul was also reviewed as a model for economic recovery and the revitalization of domestic tourism.
The session further stressed the pivotal role of the upcoming parliament in adopting more mature economic programs, opening up to national expertise, and activating specialized committees to formulate practical and sustainable solutions that support economic growth and employment.
